Where Glass Meets Gravity
A suspended choreography of hand-blown glass elements, gently drawn downward by the invisible pull of gravity
.

A floating sculpture of light, Falling Light is a suspended composition that evokes the rhythm of sea currents and the elegance of controlled chaos. Each blown glass element hovers in space like a droplet held in time—delicately composed, yet powerfully luminous.
Design & Structure
The chandelier is built around a 90 cm diameter disc, meticulously handcrafted from 35 mm thick okoumé marine plywood. The surface is CNC-drilled with 120 staggered holes for the glass elements, organized in eight concentric rings following a dynamic hexagonal spiral layout.
The disc is surrounded by a rusted and varnished iron band, 8 cm high and 2 mm thick, adding an industrial and marine-inspired edge to the composition. Three engraved hexagonal LED channels are milled into the surface and fitted with warm white LED strips (3000K), delivering 50W of soft ambient light (500 lumens). The light is diffused gently, never aggressive—"digestible" by design.
Mounting & Suspension
The structure is suspended by a single central rope made of 20 mm natural hemp, reinforcing the maritime character of the piece while offering robust support and a striking visual contrast.
Glass Elements
Each glass piece is hand-blown by Davide Penso in Murano using lampworking techniques. The forms vary in size and curvature, arranged in a graduated cascade from center to edge. Colors and densities are customizable upon commission, allowing each piece to be uniquely tailored to its space.
A Work of Light and Craft
This chandelier is not just lighting—it's an installation. Every step of its creation, from template punching to brass spacer mounting and LED embedding, is done by hand in the artist’s studio. The final result is a luminous object that unites tradition, design, and material sensibility in a single expressive gesture.
